I was hoping to meet up with Gloucester MBC but the roadworks through Chepstow put an end to that notion.

Being there anyway, I decided it was time to sort out some of the more "interesting" trails in the Forest - and there certainly are a lot of them. Climbing up towards the area marked on the map as "Mountain Biking Area" reveals an area, oddly-well suited to off-road use.

There's a whole myriad of trails, singletrack, steep descents, ledges & jumps - enough to keep most downhillers happy.

Spent a couple of hours on those trails & then finished off doing a circuit of the FoDCA trail, which - I'm happy to report - has dried out considerably, and not in bad nick in most places. Naturally, I managed an arse-over-tit moment (so there are still less-than-perfect spots!), which seemed to leave my bike with a mightily bent large chainring. Nothing, however, that a rain of blows from a large rubber mallet couldn't sort out.

Total of 11.5m.
